King Thranduil of the Woodland Realm
Elegant Elven King & veteran warrior
Tall (even for an Elf), blond, elegant Elven King of Greenwood the Great/Mirkwood/Eryn Galen. With his finely made plate armour and armed with beautifully crafted, lethal twin blades, he is as deadly as he is glamourous. His quick reflexes match his quick temper and his dislike of Dwarves and strangers is legendary. His favourite animals are elks & white stags.

Facts in italics are either conjecture or game canon for Thranduil. Everything else is Tolkien canon.
478 – Born in King Thingol’s Kingdom of Doriath to Oropher. Lived in the fortress capital city, Menegroth (The Thousand Caves). Thingol & his city make quite an impression on the young Elf.
502 – Doriath sacked by the Dwarves of Nogrod. King Thingol slain over Nauglamír & the Silmaril. Melian leaves Middle Earth This shapes Thranduil view of Dwarves significantly.
? – Doriath is rebuilt by Dior Eluchîl.
506 – Doriath is destroyed by the Sons of Fëanor. Elrond & his twin Elros are captured.
545 – The War of Wrath begins against Morgoth & his hoardes inc. Balrogs & Dragons. Thranduil fights alongside his father & learns of Dragonfire the hard way.
587 – After the War, Oropher, like many of the Sindar, leaves Beleriand with his household, & heads over the Blue Mountains. Thranduil misses Menegroth, but likes the adventure of travelling
750 – Oropher founds his Kingdom including Greenwood the Great & rules over the Silvan Elves from his capital of Amon Lanc.
? – Oropher alters the borders of his land to accommodate Amdir’s realm of Lórinand & the encroachment of Moria (Khazad-dûm).
3400 – Oropher moves his capital from Amon Lanc, living for a short time across the Anduin in Lórinand (Lothlorien), before eventually settling near the Dark Mountains (Emyn Duir).
3430 – King Oropher & his son Thranduil join the Last Alliance of Elves & Men against Sauron. Their Silvan army is 100000 strong.
3434 – King Oropher dies at the Black Gate, in the Battle of Dagorlad against Sauron. His son Thanduil survives the battle becoming King.
3341 – After the Siege of Barad-dur, Thranduil led the remaining third of the Silvan army back to the Greenwood and his coronation.
1000 – Mithrandir (Gandalf) & Aiwendil (Radagast) appear occasionally in Greenwood the Great.
1050 – A darkness begins to drift over Greenwood the Great. The darkness emanates from Dol Guldur (built on the remains of Amon Lanc). The forest is renamed Mirkwood, much to Thranduil’s sadness. Thranduil builds his underground palace, with Menegroth and Thingol’s defensive strategy in his mind.
1086 – Prince Legolas is born. Thranduil is delighted, but sad that his son won’t see the Greenwood in its greatness, but rather in its decay.
1980 – Moria (Khazad-dûm) is abandoned when they unearth a nameless terror. Thranduil makes a note to repeat warnings about Dwaves to his son & tell him more about some of the ancient terrors.
1999 – Erebor is founded by Thror & his Dwarves,_ much to Thranduil’s irritation._
2460 – The Necromancer in Dol Guldur is identified as Sauron. Thranduil is livid & dismayed.
2746 – King Thror’s grandson Thorin is born in Erebor. Thranduil isn’t invited to the celebrations!
2770 – Smaug attacks & takes Erebor. Thranduil had told them there would be trouble if they insisted on hoarding all that gold in the mountain.
2941 – The White council expel Sauron from Dol Guldur, much to Thranduil’s relief. He definitely owes them one for that.
3014 – A Mirkwood patrol captures a weird creature roaming the area. Thranduil & Legolas listen to his chatter in confusion.
3016 – Thranduil leaves for Imladris (Rivendell), leaving Legolas in control.
3018 – The Council of Elrond is held in Imladris (Rivendell).
